My school blocks most of those sites; it maintains a site for blogging for teachers on its own server, but I am not sure that is that useful. Do y'all have any other suggestions?
Hi April,
Is your administration willing to consider a discussion of opening up blogging sites? I just feel like you could make a really good case for it. I heard Will Richardson of Weblogg-ed say at a conference last week that our students need a POSITIVE portfolio of work that is searchable online, instead of finding a bunch of crap when you google them. We have a bit of responsibility in teachign them how to do that. Nevertheless, they may never budge. Does your school use Blackboard? Our version now offers a blogging feature. That could work. Or you could use a closed wiki (i like pbworks.com) that may not be blocked. You could make that do some of the same types of things... GOOD LUCK!
