More wired than a Roman Internet café

I wrote a longish blog post on Latin via gaming on Latinblogg (managed by eClassics member Moa Ekbom). If you're interested in learning Latin with computer and console games, read the post here. Thanks to Ms. Ekbom for the invitation to write on my favorite subject. A more complete, formal paper will appear later this year as part of the published proceedings from the recent Greek and Roman Games in the Computer Age conference, Trondheim. Astute Latinists will note that the rabbit racer is heading for the wrong ending...hence the oil spill. He should be turning left onto the red ball for points and a "buff".

Awesome! I think that games are the best way to learn. Even the more childish games we play in class and through my Moodle site are a great hit. Does this game exist that your picture shows?

Alas, no. Well, almost. The game is Crash Bandicoot released as an App for an iPhone or iTouch. I Photoshopped the image as an example of "what-might-be", something for publishers, teachers, and tech-savvy individuals to strive for in developing new Latin helps that are fun and hopefully addictive.

I agree that that is something we should strive for. How hard would it be to create a game like that, assuming one had some technical know how?

I am a 3d artist/animator and VFX guy for short films. I could help out with character creation and such. Just let me know. Valete!
