More wired than a Roman Internet café

Well,
Schola certainly seems to have got off to a flying start - 48 hours later, many letters, comments and postings have been made, all in Latin. There are now 33 members.
My headache now is to translate the huge language file for the site into Latin - I've done 5% so far, enough to give the site a Latin feel.

How does one go about joining without divulging personal information? I really don't see why the system needs to know my location, familial status, and age to let me join, and in fact I do notice, when clicking on "circulus", that many of the members aren't displaying any of that information, but I can't seem to get through the signup process without being prompted for all that stuff. Which is why I've not joined so far...

As the members are from all over the world, knowing what country a person is from is useful, because it means people living near each other can find each other. One user wrote "I live in a cave with my books" So I don't see the problem, you can avoid a straight answer. Just make sure you answer in Latin.

The age question - as you answer it with a sentence, just write "undisclosed" or something, only, write it in Latin

If you click on any member in the Circulus, the information comes up.

I think those who have the fuller info, are members from Eclassics who have joined Schola, and ING carries the info from here over to there.

The family status questions are vague enough that you can select something silly as an answer, there are enough choices. I'll add some more humorous ones though, to give folks like you an option of being indirect.

Good to have you on board at Schola Raphaela. I look forward to reading your diary.
