I am an archaeologist and art historian who is entering the world of the philologist as I embark on teaching a Greek and Latin Roots course this semester. Thank god for my techie husband!
Favorite on-line spots for the Classics:
David Meadows' site for the ancient world on TV
Best/worst computer-related classroom happening:
Best just happened this week - an upper level classics student actually "performed" someone on the internet's idea of the words that would accompany the crane dance (Theseus/Delos). He added some interpretive dance of his own, and it was pure gold.
Otherwise, dressing students up in proper Greek attire and parading them around university hallways in "religious processions" is always a favorite.
Don't you dare; I also can probably find blackmail photos. Toxotis was an epithet of Artemis having to do with her archery-ness (tox is the greek root for arrow). It's also a name I've used for online games. (ya, I know, I'm such a geek.)
Oh don't worry, I would never. Especially because our students are starting to explore this realm! But it's always fun to threaten! Andrew is thrilled at the possibility of soccer when he's out here during the week of Sep 29-Oct 6. He wants to know if it's indoor or out. Have a great weekend, and let me know if you're down gaming in 'tukee!

I think there's friday night gaming this week but I've got to confirm that. We should definitely do something not involving grading over the weekend!
