Role in the Classics Classroom (real or virtual):
About Me:
I'm a Certified Federal Interpreter for the United States District Courts. My interpreting languages are Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Romanian, and my translation languages are these and others, such as Portuguese, Modern Greek, Russian, Polish.
My Website:
http://Mihi deest situs telaris.
Favorite on-line spots for the Classics:
Nuntii Latini (Radiophonii Finnici); Latinum; Schola
Favorite on-line spots for education:
Best/worst computer-related classroom happening:
A teacher of Greek waxed wroth with me everytime he asked in class "How do you determine whether an alpha, iota, or upsilon is long or short in a given Greek word?", and I promptly answered "From my own pronuncation, for when I learn a new Greek word, I say it out loud, heeding vowel length." The good professor's preference was the exclusively ocular approach of consulting a dictionary each time a doubt cropped out. (which was quite often for visual language learners) I have no doubts, since I treat Latin and Greek as living languages and pronounce a Classical word as if i were about to board the next time-machine leaving for Rome/50 B.C. or Athens/440 B.C..
