More wired than a Roman Internet café
Every year, Classicists line up for the booksale at the end of the joint annual meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America and American Philological Association. At exactly 8:00 AM, the hounds are released, most heading to the Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press bookstands to take advantage of last-day sales. Quantities are limited which prompts a footrace to the best deals on philological scholarship. Go figure. This year's race was slower than some and without as many runners, but was still fun to watch. I recorded it via webcam on my laptop from my position in the Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers (http://www.bolchazy.com) bookstand, and followed the rush. Apologies for the quality of the video -- running with a laptop and webcam is not exactly like working with a Steadicam....
