Fable of the Day (Greek): The Bull and The Lioness

The Bull, The Lioness and The Wild Boar = Perry 414 (English translation: Oxford Aesop 376)

Ταῦρος εὑρηκὼς κοιμώμενον λέοντα, τοῦτον κερατίσας ἀπέκτεινεν. ἐπιστᾶσα δὲ ἡ ἐκείνου μήτηρ πικρῶς αὐτὸν ἀπεκλαίετο. ἰδὼν δὲ αὐτὴν σύαγρος ὀλοφυρομένην, μακρόθεν ἑστὼς ἔφη πρὸς αὐτήν “ὦ πόσοι ἄρα τυγχάνουσιν ἄνθροποι θρηνοῦντες, ὧν τὰ τέκνα ὑμεῖς ἀπεκτείνατε.”

Οὗτος δηλοῖ ὅτι ἐν ᾧ μέτρῳ μετρεῖ τις ἀντιμετρηθήσεται αὐτῷ.
