"You're right about the fact that there is actually no need to speak latin- since it is not the language of science any more -which makes science a lot more accessable for everyone else. I haven't been able to find the Hans Ober course, but…"

Spoken latin taught in schools?

What do you think about teaching latin in schools like other languages are taught? I think it would certainly improve comprehension. I have trouble writing things that I can read easily., and the latin course that I do only looks at written latin. I would also like to know if there are any other online sites where I could learn latin in a similar way that I'm learning french?

Profile Information

Role in the Classics Classroom (real or virtual):
student
About Me:
I am a latin student and I want to learn latin like I learn french- I think it would be a lot easier to remember vocab and grammar structures if I could write or speak in latin. At present I'm only reading latin and identifying grammar structures.
Favorite on-line spots for the Classics:
Cambridge latin (actually the only one I've found)
Favorite on-line spots for education:
LiveMocha and PolyGlot. There are also many other language and science related websites that I like
