Italian American Groups Speak Up to Save AP Language Test

This Washington Post article is about the loss of the AP Italian exam, and references the AP Latin Exam: Italian American Groups Speak Up to Save AP Language Test If only we could re-animate Cicero himself, so we'd have an advocate like Mario Cuomo on our side! Yours, Chris Ann

A Traveling Exhibit: APA Comics Contest 2008

Dear Friends on eClassics: I''m writing to inform you, if you haven't been able to see the display boards that have traveled to APA Chicago, Eta Sigma Phi, and just recently, CAMWS, that the winners and honorable mention entries from the 2008 APA Comics Contest are traveling the country at the request of teachers like you. The theme was the statue of Ceres that crowns the Chicago Board of Trade building. The cost of the display is nominal, since it entails merely the price of shipping and arra… Continue

Hello Chris Ann,

Thanks for commenting on my blog post.

I'm not really able to give you very precise answers to your questions right now, I would need to do some research.

What I do know is this: My host Mypodcast.com takes $5 for every 1000 downloads of any advertising/sponsorship revenue I generate.

To date, NO podcast hosted by them has generated ANY revenue for them at all. i.e. not good for me, as I need them to stay afloat.

This base revenue is used to fund the service. Anything above this $5 level, goes to me. This is a good deal, compared to that offered by many other hosting companies. The alternative is to move the podcast (and lose users until they can find it again) to a service where I pay for it in toto. I would have to contact Libsyn and ask them to look at Latinum and give me an estimate.

Latinum is one of the highest bandwidth users on the Mypodcast service.

I have set the current advertising rate at $10 per 1000, which is not a high rate. This would bring me $500 USD a month, assuming 100 000 downloads per month, and with the caveat that I 'monetize' , as they say, every single download - not a realistic amount to compensate for the time I put in, but enough as an honorarium to compensate for preparation, recording, uploading, site maintenance, etc

What I am looking for is either an advertiser and/or sponsor/s. If necessary, I will reduce the amount that goes to offset my input, as the primary goal is to keep the podcast on air in the long term as a service that is free for users to access.

Evan.
