Hello Maximus! I am glad you have found your way into the world of Ning - it's a great way to find other people interested in Latin and Greek, including audio adventures!
In addition to this Ning sponsored by Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, there's a wonderful all-Latin Ning at http://schola.ning.com, and I've got an Aesop Ning (with audio!) over at http://aesopus.ning.com. Gaudeamus igitur! :-)
I never expected this my recording will appeal to anybody.
I will try to record some more, although I usually record myself reading slowly with pauses before and after difficult words.
I record the Bible, because I know the text well and it's easier for me to guess the meaning when I listen to my recordings.
Hi Maximus, never fear - the world of the Internet is big enough for everybody!!! Luckily, Aesop's fables are abundant in prose AND abundant in verse... I could spend the rest of my life just doing Aesop's fables in prose and not run out of material to record! Is Vergil a special interest of yours? I keep thinking somebody should creating a Vergil Ning website... maybe you could be the one to do that!!! Given the importance of Vergil for the way that Latin is taught these days, I think a Vergil Ning could be the most amazing kind of resource for people to build together using a Ning. :-)
P.S. To create a Ning you just to go http://ning.com and follow the instructions - it's easy.
I see from your website you are interested in Sanskrit also - wow! How exciting! One of the online courses I teach is Indian Epics (in English translation) - here is the site if you are curious: http://www.mythfolklore.net/india/
Thanks a lot.
I haven't tried recording any poetry yet, but I would certainly like to.
The only problem, I am weak on accents in Latin, that's why I read Vulgata, it's got accents.
Could you give me a link to an accented text of some poetry, say, Catullus?
