Role in the Classics Classroom (real or virtual):
About Me:
I'm in my third year of teaching Latin in the Dallas area. Every year I add a little more technology to my lessons. This year I used my LCD projector pretty much every day, in Latin I through Latin IV - we played online and PPT games, read texts online and in PPT, and generally played around. My Latin III and IV students did tech projects, one of which you can see on this website - the Daedalus and Icarus one featuring Iron Maiden and other '80s hair bands. :) My new goal is to acquire an "interactive whiteboard", along with getting pecunia for a foreign language lab with actual computers!
Favorite on-line spots for the Classics:
Magister White's AP Vergil page; Dr. Bishop's page; Perseus, Vergil Project, and many others!
Best/worst computer-related classroom happening:
Best: got some grants to finally put in an LCD projector and a Doc Cam! Worst: swore in front of students when a boy with inordinately large feet nearly knocked my personal laptop onto the floor...

How did your Certamen kids do this year? Also, our MP3 CD, Latin Aloud: AP Audio Selections (Vergil, Horace, Ovid, Catullus, Cicero) is at press and will be available in early October -- 5.5 hours of restored Classical on 101 tracks on 1 CD. And the Vergil teacher's guide should be out in October, too, if I'm reading the production schedule right.

Hi April! You wanted me to let you know when the MP3 recordings of spoken Vergil, Horace, Catullus, etc., were ready. I'm happy to announce that the MP3 CDs have arrived. Here's the link to the store: http://www.bolchazy.com/prod.php?cat=latin&id=00007

The audio will also be available via iTunes in about a month.

Not too much longer on the Vergil Teacher's Guide (although we did just release the Vergil for Beginner's Teacher's Manual).

Hope all is well.
